Ugonna Ukwu has been in fitness for 12 years. She is certified in group fitness, personal training and is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through NDEITA (National Dance-Exercise Instructor’s Training Association), IFTA (Interactive Fitness Trainers of America) and NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association). She teaches a variety of styles—cardio-funk, boot-camp, step, muscle sculpting and more recently, kick-boxing. She is a personal trainer, enjoys training for marathons and Latin dancing, and participates in health fairs to increase community awareness of healthy lifestyle choices in underserved communities.
Ugonna holds a BA in Psychology and MBA (Masters in Business Administration). She is an administrative assistant at the Center for Development and Learning at UNC Medical School and preparing for medical school. Her goal is to be a Pediatric Endocrinologist, to advocate for behavioral modifications through community-driven physical activity, and to help combat obesity and behavior-related issues in children.
